Med Kits

A successful day of outdoor climbing includes getting everyone home injury free. When the unexpected happens, BETA Fund Med Kits provide the basic resources needed to mitigate medical emergencies in the outdoors. With everything from headlamps to backboards, these kits are strategically placed throughout high-traffic climbing areas in the region. In addition to supplies, wayfinding maps help first responders orient themselves.

These kits have already played an integral role in the lives of injured climbers. With properly equipped first responders, climbers stabilized quicker and got back on the road to recovery. Volunteers check and restock Med Kits on a regular basis. Learn how to check a kit or request a restock by joining the BETA Fund Volunteer Community on Facebook.

Conservation

Climbers across the country are literally loving their climbing areas to death. As more individuals join the sport, we are seeing the negative impact of increased use on the environments in which we climb. BETA Fund is dedicated to monitoring and mitigating the impact that climbers are making. Organizing trail days, working with land managers to identify trail closures, and organizing rebolting efforts are a few examples of the projects conserving our most popular climbing areas in the Midwest.

Access

Maintaining and negotiating access to our most beloved climbing areas requires strong collaborative relationships with land managers. Both locally and nationally, the discussions of how climbers use an area and the short and long-term impacts of climbing are ongoing conversations. Whether at a state park, on federal land, or on privately-owned property, BETA Fund ensures that the community is well-represented in talks about where climbing can and could happen in the Midwest.
