As we look back on 2023 and the early months of 2024, we are reminded of the importance of perseverance and community in achieving our goals at BETA Fund. Although personal commitments and unforeseen challenges have slowed our progress, we are proud to share the accomplishments we’ve made and the steps we’re taking towards the future.

2023: A Year of Quiet Progress
While 2023 may not have been filled with high-profile events, our dedication to preserving, educating, and inspiring the climbing community remained steadfast.

Grant for Interpretive Climbing Signage
One of our significant achievements in 2023 was securing a grant from the Missouri Parks Association. This funding will be used to develop interpretive climbing signage at Elephant Rocks State Park. The signage will not only enhance the climbing experience by providing valuable information but also help educate visitors about the park’s unique geological features
and the history of climbing in the area.

Nighttime Adventure Event at Elephant Rocks State Park
Speaking of Elephant Rocks, we hosted an incredibly successful nighttime adventure event at there in collaboration with Vertical Voyages and Missouri State Parks. Held on October, the event drew a fantastic crowd who enjoyed both top-rope and self-guided nighttime climbing, it was an unforgettable evening of fun and adventure under the stars.

Ongoing Maintenance and Community Engagement
Throughout the year, we continued our regular maintenance and community engagement activities. We organized several smaller volunteer workdays focused on trail maintenance and trash cleanup at various climbing sites. These efforts, though less visible, are crucial in ensuring that our climbing areas remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Early 2024: Celebrating New Beginnings
As we move into 2024, we are thrilled to share some exciting developments that mark the start of a new chapter for BETA Fund.

Official Opening of Washington State Park Climbing Area
In the early months of 2024, we celebrated the official opening of the climbing area at Washington State Park. This milestone was made possible through the collaboration of BETA Fund, Missouri State Parks, and the local climbing community. The opening ceremony was attended by members of the Missouri Parks Department and a state representative, highlighting the significance of this achievement for both climbers and the broader community.

Future Plans and Community Involvement
Looking ahead, we are committed to continuing our work in enhancing climbing access and fostering a strong, engaged community. We plan to host more volunteer workdays, educational events, and community gatherings throughout the year. Additionally, we are exploring new projects that align with our mission of preserving natural climbing areas and promoting responsible outdoor recreation.

Call to Action
None of these accomplishments would be possible without the support and involvement of our community. We invite you to join us in our efforts to preserve and improve our beloved climbing areas.
